Trojans Match Report vs Durb-Bell U20A – 09 August
On Thursday afternoon (Public Holiday), UCT U20A1 (Trojans), convincingly beat an aggressive Durb-bell U20A side, 31 – 15. Half time 14 – 10.
The 1st half, in particular, of this match was an ugly, fierce , ill tempered affair. The Ikeys kept their cool and tried to play expansive attacking rugby. They were not able to get into their stride, owing to all the stoppages, until late into the 1st half. A red card for a tip tackle to their left wing, did not help their cause.
As the half progressed, both sides settled down and some attractive rugby was played by the young Ikeys. Half time 14 – 10 to UCT
The 2nd half produced some good attacking rugby, especially from UCT. Although the aggressive Durb-bell team tried to slow the Trojans ball down with deliberate infringements, UCT managed to score 3 good tries. Durb-bell scored 1 unconverted try, through an interception, late in the match, to bring some respectability to their score.
The young Ikeys, must be commended for their guts and fine effort, with only 14 players, still managing to get a bonus point for scoring 5 tries.
Full time 31 – 15 to UCT
